CINEC CAMPUS Earns IESL Conditional Recognition for Automotive & Mechanical Engineering Degrees.

Colombo, Sri Lanka, February 2026 – CINEC Campus Sri Lanka, one of the pioneering non-state higher education institutions in the country, announced its conditional recognition by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) for its BSc in Automotive Engineering and BSc in Mechanical Engineering programmes.

This achievement elevates the institution’s academic and professional standing within the country’s higher-education sector. The accreditation, effective from the first graduating batch, enables students to obtain Associate Membership of IESL and progress towards Corporate Membership and Chartered Engineer status, recognised across all Washington Accord jurisdictions.

This recognition marks a key milestone for the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, led by Dr. Janaka Liyanagama, and positions CINEC as one of the pioneering non-state providers in Sri Lanka to offer professionally accredited engineering pathways. The endorsement affirms the rigor of CINEC academic framework, its alignment with international competency standards, and its capacity to produce industry-ready engineering talent.

Speaking with Dean/ Faculty of Engineering & Technology, CINEC Campus Pvt Ltd – Dr. Janaka Liyanagama, stated: “Achieving IESL conditional recognition is more than a compliance milestone; it is a strategic validation of our commitment to producing engineers who meet global professional standards. As a signatory to the Washington Accord, IESL membership gives our graduates internationally portable credentials and direct access to engineering careers across multiple economies. This recognition reinforces CINEC’s role in shaping a highly skilled, globally competitive engineering workforce for Sri Lanka.”

CINEC’s engineering faculty comprises of four [04] departments – Civil, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical & Automotive, and Interdisciplinary Studies, and delivers a broad portfolio including four-year BSc degrees, UK-awarded BEng (Hons) programmes with Anglia Ruskin University, MSc postgraduate degrees, Pearson-endorsed Higher National Diplomas and Engineering Degree Foundation programmes. The recognised degrees strengthen CINEC’s offering in specialised disciplines such as automotive engineering – an area in which the institution has been an early mover within the non-state education sector.

With this latest recognition, CINEC strengthens its credibility among students, parents, and industry stakeholders, whilst expanding opportunities for Sri Lankan engineers to participate in international labour markets and advanced professional pathways.
