From pioneering home fitness solutions to supporting elite athletes and rural sporting communities, Quantum Fitness marks a milestone in the evolution of fitness in Sri Lanka

Colombo, Wednesday 14 October 2026: Quantum Fitness celebrates its 28th anniversary in Sri Lanka, marking a journey that began in 1998 as Quantum Teleshopping, when both teleshopping and home fitness were emerging concepts in the country.

Over nearly three decades, the company has evolved into a supplier of internationally recognised fitness equipment for homes, gyms and institutions, while expanding its showroom network to bring products and after-sales support closer to customers across the island.

A significant milestone came in 2012, when Quantum partnered with US-based ICON Health & Fitness to introduce NordicTrack to Sri Lanka, with Anarkali Akarsha as brand ambassador. The launch showcased advanced fitness technology, including treadmills with incline capabilities of up to 40 degrees, bringing new training possibilities to local consumers.

Quantum’s contribution has also extended beyond commercial fitness. In 2019, the company provided Power Plate equipment to the Foundation of Goodness for a nine-month trial supporting rural athletes at its Seenigama facility. Following the trial, Quantum donated the equipment permanently in January 2021, with former Sri Lankan cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara accepting the donation.

To mark its 28th anniversary, Quantum is bringing the celebration directly to customers through an interactive mini basketball challenge available at its showrooms and website. Participants can test their shooting skills and earn discounts of up to 20%, turning the anniversary into an engaging opportunity for customers to participate and enjoy rewards.

The initiative reflects the brand’s belief that fitness can be accessible, engaging and enjoyable, while connecting the spirit of movement with the excitement of a customer experience.

Quantum is also extending its legacy through customer education and wellbeing initiatives. Its Customer Engagement Programme helps consumers make informed fitness choices, while the Quantum Fitness Health Academy offers expert-led webinars covering exercise, home workouts, nutrition, sleep and non-communicable disease prevention.

“Over the past 28 years, we have witnessed a significant transformation in how Sri Lankans approach fitness. Our journey has always been about evolving with our customers. Today, people need more than equipment; they need knowledge, guidance and accessible solutions that support healthier lives. We see our future in making fitness more inclusive and relevant to everyday living, while continuing to contribute to the development of Sri Lanka’s fitness industry,” said Nomal Wijeyaratne, Founder and Chairman of Quantum Fitness.

Looking ahead, Quantum sees opportunities to broaden the industry’s focus towards preventive wellbeing, healthy ageing, workplace wellness and accessible movement for people of different ages and abilities.

As it celebrates 28 years, Quantum Fitness continues to build on its pioneering foundations, with a vision of making fitness an informed, inclusive and sustainable part of everyday life for more Sri Lankans.
