Sunshine Holdings concludes ‘Smart Life Challenge’, empowering employees to work healthy and retire healthy

Diversified conglomerate Sunshine Holdings PLC (CSE: SUN) recently concluded its impactful ‘Smart Life Challenge’, a distinctive HR-led initiative designed to foster long-term healthy lifestyles among employees. This successful initiative underscores Sunshine’s proactive approach to ensuring employees work and retire as healthy individuals, further strengthening its mission to nurture a positive and productive workplace. This initiative is set to continue as an ongoing program, providing lasting benefits to employee health and wellness.

The Sunshine Smart Life Challenge featured a comprehensive three-month fitness and wellness program that actively engaged employees from all business units in personalized and team-based activities. Over the course of the initiative, teams comprising 10 members each participated in bi-weekly fitness sessions, guided by professional trainers and nutritionists who provided tailored health advice and support.

Reflecting on the program’s impact, Group Chief People Officer Michelle Senanayake said, “At Sunshine, our philosophy is clear; we don’t just promote healthcare externally but actively champion it internally. The Smart Life Challenge is an embodiment of our deep-rooted belief in employee well-being as the cornerstone of organizational strength. Participants were regularly assessed and encouraged to achieve personalized fitness goals, which encompassed weight management, physical endurance, and overall health improvements. The challenge fostered camaraderie and healthy competition among colleagues, with special incentives rewarding individuals and teams who successfully completed targeted workout routines, significantly boosting motivation and participation.
